How to Choose the Best Place for Your Office Trailer
Determine the Footprint of Your Building
Measure the building’s area — length times width. Add the measurement of any steps or ramps, then add at least 6 feet on all sides for delivery and pick up. Local codes may require additional space.
Place it on a Solid Foundation
Paved or compacted gravel are best, but a firm dirt foundation works too. The area should to be level. Avoid areas where water drainage or pooling water may be a problem, either on the surface or below it.
Make it Accessible
Make sure there is room for a truck to deliver and remove your office trailer, and for any local deliveries. Keep the building and walkways a safe distance from the work area.
Pay careful attention to blast areas, active construction zones, heavy equipment operations and any overhead work areas.
Locate Your Site Services
Electrical and water supplies are easily run almost anywhere, except across water or walkways.
Sewer connections require downhill drainage and can add costs if trenching or grading is required.
Think Safety
Place your building with a clear view of your work area and site entry points, but far enough away from the work area so visitors without PPE can safely approach the building. It a good ideas to check if there are any local safety requirements.
If you’re still not sure about the best place for your office trailer, ask your building provider. They can help.
